Mrs. Anne Giudice

Anne Giudice March 25th, 1928 to April 8th, 2024 Anne Mary (Rizzo) Giudice, 96, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 8th, 2024. Anne grew up in Little Italy, Manhattan and graduated from Washington Irving H.S.in the 40’s. As a teenager, Anne loved Frank Sinatra and was always a fan of movie stars. Her birthday always fell close to the Academy Awards and the 1st Academy Award Ceremony, like her age, was held 96 years ago…coincidence? I think not! After raising her family, Anne returned to the workforce and climbed the ladder of success becoming the First Woman Superintendent of the New York City Housing Authority, such an amazing accomplishment that Mario Cuomo presented an award to her. Anne lived with her family in Brooklyn since 1950. When her kids were young, she was a Scout Leader and often ran into her former Cub Scouts in the neighborhood. Over many years she had several interests and was very involved in her community. Anne was a member of Ressurection’s Lady’s Club, Bergen Beach Senior Group, Marine Park Senior Group and filled her days taking Arts & Crafts classes, Ceramics classes and always tried new things. She made beautiful sweaters and blankets with Our Lady of Grace’s knitting group. She was an avid Mah Jongg player, enjoyed Penny Poker, Michigan Rummy, Cannasta and her most recent obsession, Rummy-O but what meant most to Anne was her family. She was the youngest in her family and married the love of her life who was also the youngest in his family. Sal and Anne had over 40 wonderful years together. Her pride and joy were her children; Charles Sabatino, Annette Sabatino and Salvatore Sabatino (Linda). She was Grandmother to Gina Lentinello, Danielle Sabatino, Virginia Sabatino, Mia-Rose Rizzo, Salvatore Sabatino, Jr. (Meaghan) and Samanmtha Motti (John). Anne was Great Grandmother to Jack Motti, Giovanna Sabatino, Zane Motti, Lauralie Motti and Theo Mann. Anne was predeceased by her parents Domiano and Rosina Rizzo, siblings Benvenutta Dell’Olio, Joseph Rizzo and Philip Rizzo and by her husband Salvatore Giudice and son Daniel Sabatino. Services will be held at James P. Byrnes Funeral Home on Monday, April 15th from 2-5 and 7-9 with a Funeral Mass 9:30 at Resurrection R.C. Church on Tuesday, April 16th, burial at Calverton National Cemetary. Donations may be made in Anne Giudice’s name to VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region (www.visitingnurses.org). This organization made her end of life care sweet and we are very grateful.
