Ms Joan M. Flanigan Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Joan Flanigan (87) passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 11. Joan was born September 4, 1934 in Marine Park, Brooklyn. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Caroline and James Flanigan, and her loving siblings, Patricia Musinski, (Peter), James Flanigan and Robert Flanigan (Josepha). She is survived by her sister-in-law, Collette Flanigan, 16 nieces and nephews, 43 great nieces and nephews and 18 great-great nieces and nephews. After attending Resurrection School, and St Brendan’s HS, Joan went to work as a secretary for the President of the New York Teamsters Union for 17 years, after which, she took a hiatus to care for her ailing mother. A life-long member and daily congregant of Resurrection Church, Joan returned to work in 1986 as secretary for Resurrection Rectory and continued there for 25 years till she retired at the age of 75. An avid walker, Joan could be seen almost daily walking around Marine Park, which she loved. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Throughout her long life, Joan’s quiet and kind demeanor, coupled with her friendly smile and sparkling blue eyes, made her a treasured aunt and beloved friend. She will be terribly missed.
